Dynamic building simulation reduces investment costs and CO\u2082 emissions<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The \"Tower Buchs\", a striking eight-storey office and commercial building, is being built at the southern entrance to the town of Buchs SG. On behalf of Frickbau AG, the H2O-Plan team was responsible for the building technology planning for this new multi-purpose building. BOP was called in to optimise the dimensioning of the building technology using dynamic building simulation. Although the optimisation phase only began during the tendering process - an earlier start in the preliminary project would have been ideal - the challenge was to achieve an optimised dimensioning of the building technology. BOP used dynamic building simulations (EnergyPlus) based on the specifications of the SIA 380\/2 standard to optimise the heating and cooling loads, taking into account real usage conditions.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

In a project funded by Innosuisse, Amenti and the Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana (SUPSI) have developed a planning methodology that enables the precise prediction of yields from roof- and fa\u00e7ade-integrated photovoltaics. It automatically takes into account shading caused by building offsets and the shadows cast by neighbouring buildings, trees and terrain. A typical feature of Amenti is the connection to Swiss-wide databases, which means that relevant geodata is seamlessly integrated. Within a few minutes, we had modelled the building and simulated an optimal fa\u00e7ade photovoltaic strategy. The National Sports Centre Magglingen (NSM) is an important training, sports and congress centre for Swiss sport. Gruner Geb\u00e4udetechnik Bern has been carrying out various renovation works on the NSM's building services systems since 2020. One of these measures concerns the Jubilee Hall, the training hall for artistic gymnasts. There are currently no specific standards for natural or hybrid ventilation concepts. Absolute targets are often required that cannot be fully achieved with the variable outdoor climate as a source of energy and fresh air. By foregoing comfortable perfection, mechanisation and installations can be reduced, which lowers costs and emissions.
